THE QUEEN BEE

WELL THAT WENT WELL!

What an exciting, exhausting, exhilarating three days that was! The National Honey Show. I have never done anything like that before and selling is definitely outside of my comfort zone. Talking is not - but trading is or should I say was! Of course I was completely happy with the company, mostly made up of delightful fellow beekeepers. My associate stand holders/traders were so receptive to Betsie Valentine. I sold just over one hundred books in three days… boom! One hundred more children learning about the honeybees and maybe a few parents/grandparents who are not beekeepers! Several Stands took copies of the book back to their hotel rooms and read it only to come back and place an order of however many to sell on their websites and in their gift shops. Thus in my humble opinion validating the content and the books ambition to educate children and adults young at heart… Below are some of the images that were taken over the three days and some images I took of children (and an art student) entering the colouring competition I had set up to win a signed copy of the queen bee (page 25 of the book).

Enjoy!

STAND ALL SET AND READY TO ROCK AND ROLL.

OFF AND RUNNING.

A GORGEOUS LITTLE HONEY BEE FLEW IN FOR THE COLOURING COMPETITION I SET UP TO WIN A SIGNED PRINT OF THE QUEEN BEE FROM PAGE 25 OF THE BOOK.

THEN A UNICORN CAME FROM WHEREVER IT IS UNICORNS COME FROM!

THE ART STUDENT STOPPED FOR AN HOUR TO RELAX WHILE HER MOTHER GATHERED HER “BEE STUFF”

AND LIKE A FLOCK OF LONG TAIL TITS THIS LOT LANDED ALL AT ONCE!

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS OVER A BEAR AND A BUMBLE BEE ARRIVED.

AND FINALLY - I WAS ENJOYING A LOVELY CHAT WITH THIS GENTLEMAN, WHO HAD COME ALL THE WAY FROM GERMANY WHEN THE BELL TOLLED, SIGNALLING THE END OF THE SHOW.. AND RELAX….
