FUN AT THE CHALFONT ST GILES SHOW

Last Saturday The Chalfont Beekeepers had a stand at the Chalfont St Giles Show.  I'm not going to lie, it wasn't a great pitch.. right at the very end, near the arena, show and beer tents but away from the colour and energy of all the other wonderful stands.  However, something like that was not going to stop me attracting as many passers by to our stand as I could possibly muster!  I had taken my book and bits with me, as they had said I could, and I decided to do a raffle for a signed copy of Betsie Valentine And The Honeybees.  £1.00 per ticket!  I sold over 70!  I was tripping people up, leaping out in front of them, anything to get their attention!  So once I had paid myself for the book and the cost of postage and packaging I gave the remaining money to The Chalfont Beekeers Association which I thought was a very fair deal!  It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and it was jolly hard work!  People don't part with their pennies easily these days!  It was fun.  The fellow beekeepers on the stand were great.  We sold quite a bit of honey and various wax products produced by our incredibly clever members so all in all a good day.  And the winning ticket?  It went to No. 55!  A lovely lady from Australia who lives in Cambridge!  I did ask her to send me a picture of herself and the book when she received it.  I have yet to hear back from her - she may - she may not!  Watch this space!  Below are a couple of pics of me on my bit of the Beekeepers stand and accosting a, if I dare say so, very handsome chap for a £1. My cheekiness knows no bounds!
