LIFE'S WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU WHEN...

John Lenon sang “Life’s what happens to you when you are busy making other plans” in a song he wrote called Beautiful Boy, on his album Double Fantasy - great Album by the way - and it truly is. I had just finished a session of Singing For The Brain in Aylesbury yesterday, got in my car and checked my phone messages. A long and garbled message came through from a woman/girl called Jules who told me she ran a business virtually at the top of my road, Where Inspiration Blooms, and was doing a “Bucks Xmas Press Day” which involved local businesses and a local author had just dropped out, she had googled local authors and my name came up.. would I like to take the woman’s place? Well, to be honest I hadn’t got a clue what she was talking about but on the grounds that she runs her business virtually at the end of my road I called her and said I would drop in and have a chat. Twenty minutes later I was at this place I didn’t know even existed until this time saying that I would be delighted to take part in the “event”. So there it was, I cancelled the meeting I had arranged for the following morning, moved it to Monday and found myself packing up my Betsie Valentine goods first thing this morning and setting up a little stand with the promise of press, journalists and local bloggers who would/could take an interest in my book! I couldn’t stay the entire day; it started at 12.00 and finished at 20.00 as I had agreed to go to the Bucks County Honey Show with my book that evening and had to be there for 19:00.

I met some lovely people who were in the same little room as myself and fingers crossed made some good contacts, time will tell and I even sold a book, which I didn’t expect to do at a thing like that. In fact, so surprised was I, I had to borrow a tenner from one of the girls opposite me as I hadn’t brought any money with me!

Below are some images from the day which, all in all, seemed to go quite well. Having never done anything like this before I had no idea what to expect.. watch this space! If I get some publicity with the run up to Xmas then it was a day well spent!

Below are some images from the day. I love that Betsie Valentine always brings a smile to peoples faces!

PS my husband came and gave the girl her £10 back!
